Charges
Primary responsibilities include providing goal-focused professional guidance to participants of the ASRT Student to
Leadership Development Program. Professional mentors should have the willingness and ability to share knowledge,
skills and expertise in the medical imaging and radiation therapy profession. This is an online program.
Duties
ASRT staff select formal mentors, who serve a term of one year. A formal mentor’s primary roles include showing
interest in his or her mentee’s professional development, assisting with goal setting and providing constructive
feedback using the online mentoring platform and curriculum as a guide if needed.
Mentors must:
- Be willing to accept three mentee match requests.
- Communicate with mentee(s) monthly.
- Schedule communications with mentee(s); mentors may create their own content or use already developed materials.
- Complete survey regarding participation in the program.
Time Commitment
Professional Mentors should expect to spend one to four hours per month engaging with mentee(s) using the online
platform. The program begins Dec. 1, 2024.
Travel Commitment
No travel is required to serve as a professional mentor.
Skills
Professional mentors must have in-depth knowledge and real-life work experience in medical imaging or radiation
therapy to provide guidance and support to the mentees. Mentors must be able to build and maintain collaborative,
goal-focused relationships.
Criteria
- Professional Mentors shall be an ASRT member for three years preceding application.
- The appointee shall be a current member of an ASRT affiliate.
