I've learned how to listen more deeply, communicate more clearly, and lead with empathy. These aren't just professional skills—they've made me a better colleague, a better friend, and honestly, a better version of myself. The experience has reminded me that growth doesn't always come from climbing a ladder—it often comes from lifting others up. And that's something I'll carry with me wherever I go.
Without involvement, a member is truly not getting
everything they could out of their membership and it helps to keep the
passion ignited for years to come.
Volunteering with ASRT allows me to connect with
like-minded professionals who are just as passionate about this field
as I am. It keeps me engergized, reminds me why I entered this
profession and gives real meaning to the decades I've
dedicated to medical imaging.
I believe that volunteerism is a way to give back and
a way to pay it forward to a profession that has
given me a renewed purpose in life and given me stability in life.
Volunteering with the ASRT has afforded me to develop
lifelong friendships with some awesome people.
As an
educator I instill th importance and benefits of volunteerism in my
rad tech students both within the professional organizations as well
as in their communities where they live and work.
I volunteer with the ASRT because I believe strongly in giving back to
the profession that has given me so much.
I want to be part of the process.
It's
challenging and time-comsuming, but our patients and our profession
are worth it.
To be honest, it paints me when I hear someone
say, "Someone should do that."
My response is "Be that
someone."
Our future depends on technologists who dare to
care a little louder and
lead a little stronger
