ASRT Donates $10,000 to Support Tornado Relief Efforts

Dec 16, 2021

The American Society of Radiologic Technologists has donated $10,000 to the American Red Cross to assist with tornado relief and recovery efforts for a disaster that spanned multiple states in the South and Midwest. The donation is on behalf of the ASRT’s 156,000 members.

With thousands of homes affected and damage stretching across 250 miles, the American Red Cross is on the ground operating shelters and providing meals and supplies to affected areas as quickly as possible.

“We send our sympathy and support to everyone in these devastated communities, especially to those who lost loved ones,” said ASRT President Kristi Moore, Ph.D., R.T.(R)(CT). “We are grateful that hundreds of Red Cross volunteers are working to provide comfort and assistance, and we are proud to be able to support their efforts.”

ASRT is committed to assisting its members and local communities affected by natural disasters and donates to organizations that can help with on-site recovery efforts.

“Our contribution to the Red Cross will provide crucial support for those individuals in desperate need of assistance,” said ASRT Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director Sal Martino, Ed.D., R.T.(R), FASRT, FASAE, CAE. “As the world’s largest radiologic science association our mission is to enhance the quality and safety of patient care, so when a disaster strikes, we want to help those affected in any way possible.”
