ASRT Donates $10,000 to Support Hurricane and Wildfire Recovery Efforts

Sep 07, 2021

The American Society of Radiologic Technologists has donated $10,000 to the American Red Cross to assist with relief and recovery efforts for the Hurricane Ida and California wildfire disasters. The donation is on behalf of the ASRT’s 156,000 members.

The Red Cross is on the ground operating shelters and providing meals and supplies to affected communities in Louisiana and California.

“We send our deepest sympathy to everyone affected by these devastating natural disasters, especially to those who lost loved ones,” said ASRT President Kristi Moore, Ph.D., R.T.(R)(CT). “We are grateful that hundreds of Red Cross volunteers are working to provide comfort and assistance, and we are proud to be able to support their efforts.”

More than 31,000 registered radiologic technologists live and work in the two states and many of them are ASRT members. ASRT is committed to assisting its members and local communities affected by natural disasters and donates to organizations that can help with on-site recovery efforts.

“Our contribution to the Red Cross will provide crucial support for those individuals in desperate need of assistance,” said ASRT Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director Sal Martino, Ed.D., R.T.(R), FASRT, FASAE, CAE. “Our Society is dedicated to enhancing the quality and safety of patient care, so when a disaster strikes, we want to help those affected in any way possible.”
