Licensure Bill Introduced in Georgia Legislature

Mar 25, 2021

The Georgia Society of Radiologic Technologists is pushing for enactment of House Bill 811, introduced on March 23, 2021, by the chairman of the Health and Human Services Committee, Rep. Sharon Cooper.

The legislation would provide for the licensure and regulation of medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals and would create the Georgia Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Board. Georgia requires all bills that create new professional or occupational licensure programs undergo a review by the Georgia Occupational Regulation Review Council before enactment. Cooper introduced similar legislation last year, but the bill failed to pass before the legislature’s regular session adjourned in 2020.

The ASRT supports passage of the legislation and is working closely with the Georgia Society to support their efforts.
