The American Society of Radiologic Technologists has donated $5,000 to the American Red Cross to assist with disaster relief efforts in Middle Tennessee following powerful tornadoes there March 2. The storms caused extensive damage, power outages and loss of life in the region. The donation is on behalf of the ASRT’s 156,000 members.

The Red Cross is on the ground operating shelters and providing meals and supplies to affected communities in Tennessee.

“We send our deepest sympathy to everyone affected by these devastating tornadoes, especially to those who lost loved ones,” said ASRT President Stephanie Johnston, M.S.R.S., R.T.(R)(M)(BD)(BS), FASRT. “We are grateful that hundreds of Red Cross volunteers are working to provide comfort and assistance, and we are proud to be able to support their efforts.”

More than 8,500 registered radiologic technologists live and work in the state and many of them are ASRT members. ASRT is committed to assisting its members and local communities affected by natural disasters and donates to organizations that can help with on-site recovery efforts.
