  • What You'll Learn

    This presentation will cover coronary anatomy, routine procedures, emergency procedures, and advanced imaging techniques that will help guide cardiologists during procedures. We will discuss permanent pacemaker insertion, right heart catheterization, left heart catheterization, diagnostic heart catheterization, and interventional heart catheterization procedures. Advanced diagnostic tools will also be explained, including flow fractional reserve (FFR), intervascular ultrasound (IVUS), and optical coherence tomography (OCT). Last, the presentation will explore examples of typical experiences for technologists working in cardiac catheterization laboratories.


    Objectives

    After this presentation, the attendee will be able to:

    • Recognize coronary anatomy and procedures.
    • Explain how IVUS and OCT are applied in cardiac catheterization.
    • Identify the equipment used in the cardiac cath lab.
    • Describe the common access points for heart catheterization.
    • Differentiate right and left heart catheterization procedures.
