    1 CE credit
  • What You'll Learn

This presentation will address imaging of musculoskeletal trauma, including both mild injuries and severe or complex injuries resulting from motor vehicle crashes. The evolving roles of radiography, CT and MRI modalities will be examined. Circumstances for which CT has replaced radiography as the primary imaging modality will be discussed, as well as cases for which MRI should be used, such as in the assessment of soft tissue injuries.

    Objectives

    • Recognize the roles of CT, MRI and radiography in imaging patients with acute musculoskeletal trauma.
    • Describe why, in certain situations, CT and MRI have replaced radiography as the principle imaging tool for initial evaluation.
    • Identify a variety of traumatic injuries and their likely origins on clinical images.
