New FDA Policy on Breast Density

Thursday, October 12, noon Central time
    1 Category A CE Credit
  • What You'll Learn

Breast density is evaluated by the radiologist, and is described by the ACR as a blend of fibrous and glandular tissue with fatty tissue. This presentation will describe the four categories of breast density, what they represent, and how they are reported. Earlier this year, the FDA issued changes that require specific information about breast density to be reported to referring physicians and patients. Although many states may already have breast density notification laws, they vary widely by region. We will discuss how these requirements may affect your facility, help you understand these changes, and list steps to become compliant when the changes take effect.

    Objectives

After this presentation, the attendee will be able to:

    • Recognize breast density categories and current reporting standards.
    • Describe new FDA requirements for breast density reporting.
    • Explain how these changes may affect your facility.
