ASRT Foundation Concludes 27th Corporate Roundtable Summit

Industry leaders attended the ASRT Foundation 27th annual Corporate Roundtable Summit in Savannah, Georgia, in May, to collaboratively address issues that influence the direction of the medical imaging and radiation therapy profession.

The three-day event featured discussions and presentations on a variety of topics including workforce challenges, advocacy and growth, plus a leadership panel discussion.

Attendees and supporters included, Accuray, AdvaMed, Advanced Health and Education, American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, American Society of Radiologic Technologists, Baptist Health, Carestream, Elekta, GE HealthCare, GentleCure by SkinCure Oncology, Hologic, Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology, MIC, Philips, Revenue Cycle Coding Strategies, RadNet, The 44 Group and Siemens Healthineers.

Workforce challenges took center stage in a session about the demand for radiology services in screening and population health, presented by RadNet Associate Vice President of Women’s Health and Screening Services Kimberly Bathurst, R.T.(R)(M), and RadNet Vice President of Customer Relations and Training Cliffondra Brown.

Siemens Healthineers’ Technical Curriculum Developer Mauro Siebeneichler Leffever, M.Sc., and Senior Manager of Global Standards and Content Melissa Reyes, B.B.A., R.T.(R)(T), expounded on the use of virtual reality and mixed reality in radiation therapy education and training for its remarkable potential.

Chief Operating Officer for the ASRT Foundation and Executive Vice President of Corporate Relations Steven Hardy, M.S., R.T.(R)(T)(CT), CMD, said the Corporate Roundtable’s work makes sustainable change in the profession possible. “By continuing to listen to one another, share our knowledge and then act, we can keep moving the profession forward in meaningful ways,” he said.

The corporate supporters that participate in the event commit to a certain Foundation donation level. The Foundation uses those funds to further its mission to support and empower medical imaging and radiation therapy students and professionals as they pursue opportunities to positively impact patients.
