The ASRT is governed by its articles of incorporation, bylaws, a House of Delegates and an elected Board of Directors.
Articles of incorporation are the primary law of an association used to establish the general organization and
governing of the association to achieve corporate existence. Bylaws are the secondary law of an association best
used to detail how the society is formed and run. Bylaws are rules adopted and maintained by an association or
society that define and direct its internal structure and management. They are subordinate, and complementary,
to an association's articles of incorporation.

The purpose of the ASRT election is to select the ASRT Board of Directors and House of Delegates chapter
representatives. Dedicated ASRT members have volunteered to run for these positions. Each officer and delegate
must meet specific criteria and submit an application during the nomination period to be eligible to run for
office. You are eligible to vote in the ASRT election if you were an ASRT member on or before the last business
day in December before the election.

The American Society of Radiologic Technologists has an eight-member Board of Directors. Each year, the ASRT
membership elects a president-elect, vice president, secretary and treasurer. After serving one year on the
Board, the president-elect is elevated to the office of president and the current president becomes chairman of
the Board. The remaining two members of the Board – speaker and vice speaker – are elected by the ASRT House of
Delegates at its business meeting during the Annual Governance and House of Delegates Meeting. The new Board is
installed at the annual meeting in June each year.
