Aug 29, 2017

The American Society of Radiologic Technologists will donate $10,000 to the American Red Cross to assist with disaster relief efforts in Texas caused by Tropical Storm Harvey. The donation is on behalf of the ASRT’s 153,000 members.

“The hurricane has devastated parts of Texas and people are in need of immediate support,” said ASRT Chairman of the Board Michael Latimer, M.S.R.S., R.T.(R), FASRT. “By providing a donation to the Red Cross, we’re confident that individuals affected by the hurricane will receive support that will help them get their lives back in order.”

In addition to the donation, ASRT working with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists to determine how many radiologic technologists are affected by the hurricane. As we learn more, we will provide additional information to our membership.

“There are nearly 25,000 registered radiologic technologists in Texas and quite a few live and work in Houston and the surrounding area,” said ASRT CEO and Executive Director Sal Martino, Ed.D., R.T.(R), FASRT, FASAE, CAE. “A lot of those R.T.s will be tasked with providing patients with care during this difficult time, but also manage their own lives as residents of the area. As a result, we’re going to work hard to provide as much support as possible.”
