ASRT Launches Compliance Suite Series

Feb 02, 2016

The American Society of Radiologic Technologists has launched the ASRT Compliance Suite, a collection of 30 training modules that provide health care professionals with information to help them meet educational requirements for certification by state and national accrediting bodies including The Joint Commission and Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology.

The modules, which can be completed in approximately 15 minutes, provide health care professionals and facilities with critical information about a number of topics that are included in state, federal and accreditation requirements. Topics range from hand hygiene and fire safety to patient rights and patient safety. The modules are applicable to all health care professionals and support staff.

The individual modules allow health care workers and facilities to choose the specific topics they need to meet certification requirements. Moreover, the modules will be updated annually to reflect The Joint Commission’s National Patient Safety Goals and align with updates to accreditation standards and state requirements.

ASRT Compliance Suite modules are provided free for ASRT members and are available at $10 per module for individual non-members. The materials are also available in a CD version for large institutions with learning management systems and include a test bank and certificate template.

In a move that will add value to smaller organizations looking to meet compliance requirements, the series is available without charge as a benefit of professional group membership. Organizations that purchase ASRT group membership for their staff will receive access to the comprehensive curriculum of 30 online courses.

“By offering 30 short modules, we’ve created a tailored approach to helping individuals, small facilities and large institutions get the specific training they need to meet important standards,” said ASRT's Chief Learning and Membership Officer Myke Kudlas, M.Ed., R.T.(R)(QM), CIIP. “In addition, a great benefit of this series is that it tracks employees who have completed the courses and creates accreditation transcripts and certificates of completion.”

These courses are not offered for continuing education credit, but are designed to reinforce essential skills and ensure compliance for the health care workplace.

If I do compliance at my work place do I also need to do it for ASRT/ARRT?
Thanks for your message, Stacey. You aren’t required to complete any compliance for the ASRT or ARRT. Please note that if you’re a CT or MRI technologist, The Joint Commission requires annual safety training in those practice areas. The ASRT Compliance Suite, free to members, can help you meet the Joint Commission’s compliance guidelines. Please feel free to contact us if you need any assistance.
According to the Joint Commission's compliance guidelines, how many modules do they require a Radiation Therapist to complete?
Thanks for your message. Someone from our Member Services team will contact you directly.
