ASRT Time Capsule Sealed Until 2065

Sep 18, 2015

A 664-page directory listing the names of ASRT’s more than 153,000 members was just one of dozens of items sealed in a time capsule for the next half century and installed in the ASRT Museum and Archives on Friday, Sept. 18. The time capsule was dedicated in a ceremony in the museum attended by the ASRT Board of Directors and executive staff.

Also in attendance was Sheri Holub, R.T.(R)(M), of Carson, Iowa, winner of the ASRT “Be a Part of History” contest. Sheri’s name was drawn from a list of all ASRT members to attend the dedication ceremony.

The time capsule is the newest addition to the museum, which opened during the 2015 ASRT Annual Governance and House of Delegates Meeting in June 2015. The museum features state-of-the-art exhibits and interactive displays that showcase the profession’s past, present and future.

“The time capsule is a unique way to preserve ASRT’s history for future members,” said ASRT Chief Executive Officer Sal Martino, Ed.D., R.T.(R), FASRT, CAE. “It’s exciting to know that ASRT members and staff will get to see history firsthand when the time capsule is opened 50 years from now.”

The time capsule will remain sealed until 2065. Among the items placed in the capsule are issues of ASRT publications from 2015, a membership application and member card, copies of recent research reports and CE catalogs, a timeline of ASRT history and the CT Basics educational series on a CD. Also included were lapels pins representing 48 of ASRT’s affiliate societies.TimeCapsule_Board_FBLink
