JRCERT Call for Candidates

The American Society of Radiologic Technologists is seeking radiologic technologists interested in serving on the board of directors for the Joint Review Committee for Education in Radiologic Technology. The term of current appointee, Debra J. Poelhuis, M.S., R.T.(R)(M), will end in April 2015. Debra is not eligible for reappointment. Prospective candidates must be ASRT members.

The ASRT Board of Directors will interview qualified candidates before the September 2014 Board meeting and will recommend candidates for JRCERT’s consideration. The JRCERT will select one individual to fill this appointment. The appointee’s term will begin in May 2015 and will conclude in April 2018.

Candidates are encouraged to submit the following documents online:

  1. Completed ASRT appointment candidate information form.
  2. Documentation of compliance with the established general qualifications (see criteria below) and current curriculum vitae.
  3. A letter from the employer verifying employment as well as support for that candidate to travel.
To be considered for appointment, candidates must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must have been a voting member in the ASRT for four continuous years preceding the appointment.
  2. Must be a member of an ASRT affiliate.
  3. Must possess strong communication skills.
  4. Must possess strong interpersonal skills.
  5. Must have knowledge of the mission, philosophies and goals of the ASRT.
  6. Must fully understand the time commitment of the position and be available for necessary travel.
  7. Must have served the ASRT in one or more of the following capacities:
    1. Served as an ASRT Board of Directors member or ASRT Foundation board member.
    2. Served a minimum of one year as a delegate to the ASRT House of Delegates.
    3. Served a minimum of one year on an ASRT or ASRT Foundation committee, task force, editorial review board, commission, Practice Standards Council, Practice Standards modality subcommittee, reference committee chairman or project work group.
  8. Consideration shall be given to geographic representation, when applicable.
  9. Consideration shall be given to discipline or specialty, when applicable.
  10. Must be knowledgeable and currently practice in the radiologic science profession in one of the following capacities:
    1. Director of a JRCERT-accredited educational program in radiography.
    2. Clinical/didactic instructor with expertise in radiography.
    3. Institutional official or administrator with responsibility for overseeing a JRCERT-accredited educational program in radiography.
  11. Must have an understanding of the functions of the JRCERT and the inter-relationships between the JRCERT and the ASRT in the areas of education standards, certification and accreditation.
  12. Currently registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiography.
  13. Must have a minimum of a master’s degree.
