ISRRT Council Member Call for Nominations

The American Society of Radiologic Technologists is seeking radiologic technologists interested in serving as ASRT’s council member to the 2016 International Society of Radiographers and Radiological Technologists. Prospective candidates must be ASRT members.

The ASRT Board of Directors may interview qualified candidates before selecting the appointee at the September 2014 Board meeting. The appointee’s term will begin upon appointment and will conclude at the close of the 2016 ISRRT meeting.

Candidates are encouraged to submit the following documents online:
  1. Completed ASRT appointment candidate information form.
  2. Documentation of compliance with the established general qualifications (see criteria below) and current curriculum vitae.
  3. A letter from the employer verifying employment as well as support for that candidate to travel.
To be considered for appointment, candidates must meet the following criteria:
  1. Voting member in the ASRT for four continuous years preceding the appointment.
  2. Member of an ASRT affiliate. ASRT members who are active duty military are exempt from this requirement.
  3. Possess strong communication skills.
  4. Possess strong interpersonal skills.
  5. Must have knowledge of the mission, philosophies and goals of the ASRT.
  6. Must fully understand the time commitment of the position and be available for necessary travel.
  7. Consideration shall be given to geographic representation, when applicable.
  8. Consideration shall be given to discipline or specialty, when applicable.
  9. Past ASRT board member. (ISRRT preference is for Council members to be individuals who have had recent experience on the governing Board of the national society and who are fully conversant with its policies and the issues that are most important.)
  10. Must be knowledgeable and currently practice in the medical imaging or radiation therapy profession.
  11. Member in the ISRRT for three continuous years preceding the appointment.
  12. Previous attendance at an ISRRT meeting or documented activity in the ISRRT.
  13. Must have an understanding of the functions of the ISRRT and the interrelationships between the ISRRT and the ASRT.
  14. Current certification by the ARRT or equivalent.
  15. Minimum of a baccalaureate degree.

Expected Time Commitment for Appointee:

The following is the minimum expected commitment:

  1. Attend ISRRT Council meetings as requested and provide a summary of activities to the ASRT Board of Directors within 30 days of the close of council meetings.
  2. Review of ongoing communication from ISRRT, including timely responses to requests for information and return of mail ballots.
