ASRT Seeks JRCNMT Board Nominees

The ASRT is seeking nuclear medicine technologists interested in serving as a board member on the Joint Review Committee for Education in Nuclear Medicine Technology. The term of appointee Richard States, D.H.S.c., R.T.(N), CNMT, ended December 2013 and he is not eligible for reappointment.

Prospective candidates must be ASRT members.

The ASRT Board of Directors may interview qualified candidates before the September 2014 Board meeting. The Board will recommend two candidates for consideration by the JRCNMT for this appointment. The JRCNMT will select one individual to fill the appointment.

The following criteria are used to evaluate candidates:

  1. Completion of ASRT appointment candidate information form including:
    1. Submission of current curriculum vitae.
    2. Documentation of compliance with the established criteria.
    3. Letter from the employer verifying employment and support for the candidate to travel.
  2. Proof of being a voting member in the ASRT for four continuous years preceding the appointment.
  3. Possession of strong communication skills.
  4. Possession of strong interpersonal skills.
  5. Must have knowledge of the mission, philosophies and goals of the ASRT.
  6. Must fully understand the time commitment of the position and be available for necessary travel.
  7. Must have served the ASRT in any one or more of the following capacities:
    1. ASRT Board or ASRT Foundation Trustee member.
    2. ASRT House of Delegates member for minimum of one year.
    3. ASRT or ASRT Foundation committee, task force, editorial review board, commission, Practice Standards Council, Practice Standards modality subcommittee, reference committee chairman or project work group member for a minimum of one year.
  8. Consideration shall be given to geographic representation, when applicable.
  9. Must be knowledgeable and currently practicing in the radiologic science profession in one of the following capacities:
    1. Director of a JRCNMT-accredited educational program in nuclear medicine.
    2. Clinical or didactic instructor with expertise in nuclear medicine.
    3. Institutional official or administrator with responsibility for overseeing a JRCNMT-accredited educational program in nuclear medicine.
    4. Supervisor with extensive clinical experience in a nuclear medicine department.
    5. Technologist with extensive clinical experience in a nuclear medicine department.
  10. Must have an understanding of the functions of the JRCNMT and the interrelationships between the JRCNMT and the ASRT in the areas of educational standards, certification and accreditation.
  11. Current registration by the ARRT or NMTCB in nuclear medicine.
  12. Minimum of a baccalaureate degree.
