Licensure Bill Introduced in Oklahoma

Jan 10, 2020

Senate Bill 1230 was introduced in the Oklahoma Senate for consideration when the legislature convenes on Feb. 3. This bill would create a Radiologic Technologist Advisory Committee within the State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision. The committee will assist the board in establishing education and certification licensure standards for radiographers, radiation therapists, nuclear medicine technologists and limited x-ray machine operators in the state.  Oklahoma has licensed radiologist assistants since 2008.

The ASRT supports the measure and has listed it as a high priority as it would establish consistent education and certification standards for the state’s medical imaging and radiation therapy personnel.
