The American Association of Physicists in Medicine has published an FAQ document for health care professionals, patients and parents who have questions about its recommendation to discontinue patient gonadal and fetal shielding during x-ray procedures.

As some medical imaging facilities have already adopted the AAPM’s recommendation, the ASRT provided input on the section of the FAQ directed at radiologic technologists.

Radiologic technologists who have comments, questions or concerns about the AAPM FAQ or its shielding recommendation should contact the organization directly at cares@aapm.org.
