Licensure Bill Introduced in Oklahoma

Feb 05, 2019

Senate Bill 955, introduced on Feb. 4 in the Oklahoma Senate, would create a Radiologic Technologist Advisory Committee within the State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision. The committee would establish education and certification licensure standards for medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals in the state.

The bill is sponsored by Sen. Paul Scott, a registered radiologic technologist and owner of a mobile x-ray company.

In support of the proposal, the Oklahoma Society of Radiologic Technologists is mobilizing radiologic technologists to attend a rally at the state capitol in Oklahoma City on Feb. 21. R.T.s will be briefed on the bill and then speak in person with legislators to ask for their support.

The ASRT supports the measure, as it would establish consistent education and certification standards for the state’s medical imaging and radiation therapy personnel.
