ASRT To Donate $5,000 for Hurricane Relief

Oct 12, 2016

The American Society of Radiologic Technologists will donate $5,000 to the American Red Cross to assist with disaster relief efforts in the Southeast U.S. and Haiti following the destruction caused by Hurricane Matthew. The donation is on behalf of the ASRT’s 153,000 members.

“Our heart goes out to those who had their lives turned upside down as a result of the hurricane,” said ASRT President Michael Latimer, M.S.R.S., R.T.(R). “Our contribution to the Red Cross will provide crucial support for individuals in need of assistance.”

In addition to the immediate donation, individuals can support the disaster relief efforts by contributing to the ASRT Foundation’s Disaster Relief Matching Program. The ASRT will match collected donations, up to $5,000, through Oct. 19.

The matching funds will go to the Red Cross, which will send volunteer teams to assist individuals who were affected by the hurricane.

“As health care professionals, our members are committed to serving others,” said Latimer. “In addition, thousands of ASRT members live in the affected areas in the Southeast, so it’s essential that we contribute to rebuilding their communities.”
