Subject: Radiation Therapy

Intraoperative Radiation Therapy (IORT), utilizing electron beams, is performed at the Medical College of Ohio at SSD ranging from 100 to 115 cm. This project was designed to investigate possible changes in electron spectra over this range of distances which may impact on the dosimetry as well as shielding of critical organs adjacent to the irradiated site. Electron beam energies of 6, 9, 12, 16, and 20 MeV are evaluated using film dosimetry for changes in Rp, E$/sb[/rm O],$ and Dmax. Results indicate that no significant changes occur in these parameters over the above ranges of distances and energies.
