Making Way for New Possibilities: The 2025 ASRT Foundation Annual Drawing Winners Reflect on Supporting the Profession

Jan 28, 2026, 13:18 PM by Lorin Bentley, ASRT Staff Editor

The ASRT Foundation Annual Drawing gives ASRT members an easy and rewarding way to give back to the medical imaging and radiation therapy profession. In 2025, ticket sales provided $37,075 in funding for scholarship programs and research grants.
Back by popular demand, the Foundation will give out three prizes this year. The grand prize is up to $3,999 for a five-night trip for two to anywhere in the continental U.S., Alaska or Hawaii. The second-place prize is $600, and the third-place prize is $200.

Advancing the Profession
The 2025 grand prize winner, Vipul Patel, R.T.(R)(MR), has been an ASRT member for more than 20 years. Vipul is a research magnetic resonance technologist at UTHealth McGovern Medical School in Houston.
“I buy tickets for the drawing to support the ASRT’s mission to advance our profession and to help future technologists with scholarships,” he said.
At the time of his interview, November 2025, he had narrowed his travel destinations to two states.
“I have been to Hawaii and enjoy the beaches and the weather, but I’ve never been to Alaska, so I’m considering both options,” he said.

Inspired to Give Back
The 2025 second-place prize went to Kevin Clark, Ed.D., R.T.(R)(QM), FASRT, FAEIRS, associate professor at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Dr. Clark’s stacked the odds of winning in his favor by buying 25 tickets this year. He said he wanted to support the Foundation and earn bragging rights for his affiliate, the Texas Society of Radiologic Technologists. (As part of the Annual Drawing, the Foundation awards prizes to affiliate societies for raising the most money and selling the most tickets.)
“The friendly affiliate competition is a fun motivator because I love seeing the Texas affiliate recognized and rewarded,” Dr. Clark said.
Last year, he donated the $600 prize back to support the Foundation’s scholarships and grants, which “make a genuine difference,” he said. “These initiatives matter, and contributing to them is one way to strengthen our professional community.”
