ASRT Foundation Announces the 2026 International Speakers Exchange Award Recipients

ASRT members, Todd Van Auken, Ph.D., R.T.(R)(MR), Kerry Dunn, Ed.D., R.T.(R)(M), and Bernadette Greenwood, Ph.D.(c), R.T.(R)(MR), were selected as the 2026 ASRT Foundation International Speakers Exchange Award recipients. The ISEA program offers recipients the opportunity to travel to one international conference each year and to present to an audience of their peers and other related health care professionals.

Dr. Van Auken will present “Dense Tissue, Clear Responsibility: Elevating Technologist Advocacy in Breast Imaging” at the 2026 Australian Society of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy National Conference, March 26-29, 2026, in Hobart, Tasmania. Dr. Van Auken is the assistant dean of the College of Health Sciences at St. Petersburg College in Florida. He has more than two decades' experience in diagnostic and interventional radiology, as well as medical imaging education. He has led training initiatives in radiography and magnetic resonance imaging. He contributes to national curriculum standards, accreditation efforts and continuing education for imaging professionals. Dr. Van Auken serves as President of the West Coast Educators Council and advocates for advancing professional development in the radiologic sciences.

Dr. Dunn will present “Measuring Burnout in Radiologic Science Educators” at the 2026 United Kingdom Imaging and Oncology Congress, June 8-10, in Liverpool, England. Dr. Dunn is the clinical coordinator and senior lecturer for the radiography program at Georgia Southern University in Savannah, Georgia. She is active in her state affiliate, the Georgia Society of Radiologic Technologists. Her scholarly interests include high-impact teaching practices, inclusive teaching and leadership and the impact of workplace culture on health care burnout. She advocates for clinical leadership and mentoring within clinical education to support the next generation of imaging professionals.

Bernadette Greenwood will present “Imaging in Prostate Cancer: The Role of the Technologist” at the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists, May 29-30, 2026, in Victoria, British Columbia. Greenwood is a medical imaging specialist and scientific author with advanced clinical and research expertise. She is certified in radiography and magnetic resonance imaging and is a doctoral candidate at Radboud University Medical Center, in Nijmegen, Netherlands, where she is affiliated with the use of innovative MR imaging techniques for cancer research as part of the Minimally Invasive Image-Guided Intervention Center. Greenwood has made pioneering contributions to the development of transrectally delivered, MR imaging-guided laser focal therapy for prostate cancer. Greenwood is a chapter author on focal therapy textbooks and has produced numerous peer-reviewed abstracts, posters and scientific publications. She is the chair of the patient advocacy committee for the Endourological Focal Therapy Society.

The ASRT Foundation has continually funded radiologic technologists and radiation therapy professionals to participate in the ISEA program to promote global cooperation through shared research, best practices and professional development in the radiologic sciences. The award includes conference registration, travel and lodging expenses, and a stipend to cover related costs.
