ASRT Foundation Awards Nearly $10,000 for Research Grant
Jennifer Clark
The ASRT Foundation has awarded Jennifer Clark, M.S.R.S., R.T.(R), RDMS, nearly $10,000 to fund a one-year research project, “Correlating Placental Thickness and Fetal Kidney Length to Gestational Age.” Clark is an assistant professor and program director for the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program at Morehead State University in Kentucky.
Clark will use the funds in a classroom setting to compare the relationship between fetal kidney length and placental thickness to gestational age in a cohort of second- and third-trimester pregnancies. Initially, students will use a fetal phantom to obtain these measurements. After mastering using the phantom, students will obtain measurements on live volunteers. The parameter demonstrating the highest significance will have the most accurate correlation to gestational age. This significant parameter could be incorporated into obstetric screenings for improved gestational age correlation.
Clark received her master's degree in radiologic sciences from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. She holds a bachelor's degree in imaging sciences with an emphasis in diagnostic medical sonography and an associate of applied science in radiologic sciences from Morehead State University. She is a member of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists, Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Kentucky Society of Radiologic Technologists, Kentucky Academy of Science and the Association of Educators in Imaging and Radiologic Sciences.
