Contest Details

  • Contest begins Sept. 1, 2022, and ends Dec. 31, 2022. Winners will be notified on or before March 31, 2023.
  • Winners will be chosen by a committee of ASRT staff in March 2023. A list of winners will be available on the ASRT website on or before April 1, 2023.
  • Each winner will receive $450, a free one-year ASRT membership and have his or her artwork displayed on one of the six covers of Radiologic Technology published during its 95th volume year (the September/October 2023 issue through the July/August 2024 issue).
  • Each entrant may only submit one image to be considered for the contest.
  • Artwork submitted must be the entrant’s original creation.
  • Entrants must be a registered radiologic technologist or a student enrolled in an accredited radiologic technology program. Entrants do not have to be an ASRT member to participate. Each contestant must provide a valid mailing address or email upon entry to be considered eligible. Entries without a valid contact will be disqualified.
  • Submissions must be in digital format at 300 dpi or greater. Because of the journal’s cover dimensions, some cropping may occur.
  • Submissions may be uploaded through the contest website.
  • Six winners will be chosen based on the artistic quality of the submission and appropriateness for a cover of the journal, as otherwise determined in ASRT’s sole discretion.

Official Contest Rules

  • In exchange for acceptance of $450 and free one-year membership, each winner of the Cover Art Contest agrees to sign an agreement assigning all copyright, trademark and other intellectual property rights in his or her winning artwork to ASRT (“Agreement”), 15000 Central Ave. SE, Albuquerque, NM 87123-3909. A copy of the Agreement shall be provided by ASRT by each winner, which Agreement must be signed and returned to the ASRT before a winner will receive any prizes. Should a winner not sign the Agreement, the prize shall be forfeited and ASRT may award the prize to another party as determined in ASRT’s sole discretion. ASRT is not responsible for any problems related to the delivery of any prize, including, but not limited to, theft, delay, loss, or other issues that may arise during delivery. If a winner does not accept the prize or agree to be bound by these terms upon being contacted by ASRT, the prize shall be forfeit and ASRT may award the prize to an alternate.
  • By entering the contest, contestants warrant and represent that the artwork is their sole and original work product.
  • By participating in the contest, each entrant certifies that his or her entry has not been previously published, and does not contain any material that would violate or infringe upon the rights of any third party, including copyrights, trademarks or rights, or privacy or publicity. ASRT reserves the right in its sole and unfettered discretion to disqualify and/or remove any entry that it believes contains obscene, offensive or inappropriate content, that does not comply with these official rules, or that is not consistent with the spirit or theme of the contest.
  • The prizes being awarded may constitute income under applicable federal, state and local tax laws and winners shall be solely responsible for payment of any and all taxes which may be due with respect to the acceptance of the prize. Winners will be required to submit a W-9 to the ASRT prior to receiving any prize.
  • All entries must be received by Dec. 31, 2022. Contest winners will be announced via the ASRT website on or before April 1, 2023.
  • The contest is open to any registered radiologic technologist or student enrolled in an accredited radiologic technology program. Entrants do not have to be an ASRT member to participate. Winners will be required to verify their status as a registered technologist or student.
  • ASRT reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of entries and of contestants and to disqualify any contestant or entry deemed not in compliance or any entry deemed not in accordance with these Official Rules, and ASRT is not required to provide a reason for its determination. ASRT also reserves the right to request further documentation, at its sole and absolute discretion, to verify eligibility and compliance with these Official Rules.
  • Each contestant may enter only one submission.
  • By submitting an entry, contestants agree that they understand and will comply with the official rules.
  • By participating in the contest, each entrant grants to ASRT and its designees a nonexclusive, worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, transferable, fully paid and royalty-free license to copy, exhibit, display, publicly perform, create derivative works based on, and otherwise use the entry. Except where prohibited by law, each winner’s name, photograph, likeness, statements, biographical information, voice, and city and states address may be used by ASRT for promotional or advertising purposes in connection with the contest on a national basis, and in all forms of media, now or hereafter known, in perpetuity, without review, permission or further compensation.
  • In the event the contest is compromised by a virus, unauthorized human intervention, tampering or other causes beyond the control of ASRT that corrupts or impairs the administration, security, fairness or proper operation of the contest, or otherwise impairs ASRT’s ability to conduct the contest in the manner anticipated by ASRT, ASRT reserves the right in its sole discretion to suspend, modify or terminate the contest.
  • The decision of ASRT and judges is final and binding on all matters relating to the contest.
  • ASRT reserves the right, at any time and in its sole discretion, to disqualify and/or deem ineligible any individual who it reasonably believes has failed to agree to the Official Rules or has violated the Official Rules.
  • ASRT is not liable in the event that any portion of the Contest is cancelled due to a condition deemed to be reasonable by ASRT. ASRT reserves the right to modify, suspend, terminate or cancel the contest, if required by law.
  • Entrants agree that this contest shall be subject to and governed by the laws of the State of New Mexico and the forum for any dispute shall be in the State of New Mexico, United States of America.
  • All prizes offered will be awarded subject to the conditions herein.
  • Contest entries must be in digital format, and the original artwork will not be accepted. Original artwork submitted with contest entry becomes the property of the ASRT and cannot be returned.
  • Winning artwork is not guaranteed to be used in any ASRT publication or on any ASRT products.
  • Contest is not open to employees of the ASRT, employees’ immediate relatives, ASRT Editorial Review Board members or ASRT Board members.
  • No purchase or ASRT membership necessary. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.
  • Contest open only to residents of the United States, its territories and possessions.
  • Payment by ASRT will be made upon receipt of the final artwork file and signed Agreement.

Limitations of Liability and Release:

  • You agree to release, defend, indemnify and hold harmless ASRT, and its officers, directors, employees and agents, from and against any and all claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs or debt, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney’s fees) arising from your violation of these Official Rules or your participation in or acceptance of any prize in connection with the contest, including any future use of the artwork. This defense and indemnification obligation will survive indefinitely beyond the conclusion of the contest.
  • ASRT assumes no liability or responsibility for any loss or harm resulting from any contestant’s participation in or attempt to participate in the contest or ability or inability to upload, download or otherwise access any information in connection with participating in the contest.
  • In no event shall ASRT, its directors, officers, employees, agents or representatives be liable to any party for any loss or injury to earnings, profits or goodwill, or for any direct, incidental, special, punitive or consequential damages of any person or entity whether arising in contract, tort or otherwise, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
